Nederland

Nederland is a beautiful mountain town located 17 miles west of, and 3,000 feet above the City of Boulder. It is the largest town along the Peak-to-Peak Scenic Byway, one of the most spectacular drives in the state, running 55 miles from Central City to Estes Park. Built primarily upon the mining of gold, silver and tungsten, the area is now a destination for those in search of plentiful outdoor recreation, the slower pace of a small community and the rugged beauty of living in the Rocky Mountains. History buffs will be fascinated by the many ghost towns in the area, as well as the three nearby National Historic Districts: Central City, Ward and Eldora.

Four beautiful seasons each offer wonderful opportunities to get in touch with nature and enjoy the outdoors. Fall brings views of amazing vistas filled with golden aspen as you take a drive on a mountain road or hike and bike on the miles of trails located throughout the area. A winter wonderland appears with the first snowfall making every turn a magical adventure. Winter sports such as cross-country skiing or snowshoeing can be done on any mountain trail, while the Eldora Mountain Resort located just 5 miles from town offers excellent terrain for skiing and snowboarding. Nederland is located only a few miles from the Continental Divide surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest and on the edge of the Indian Peak Wilderness Area.

Located within the town of Nederland are hotels, motels and over a dozen unique restaurants, cafes and coffee houses to satisfy the hungry appetite. The Nederland Community Center is a local gathering place that hosts special events throughout the year including The Backdoor Theater, Nederland Arts Cooperative and the Nederland Lions Club. In addition, the town has a popular Youth and Family Center offering recreational opportunities and youth employment and training.

Housing in Nederland ranges from huge mountain mansions to rustic cabins, all with aspen, pine trees and wild flowers in your backyard.
