Niwot

The community of Niwot is located approximately 9 miles northeast of Boulder, Colorado giving it the feel and serenity of the country while being close to all of the amenities of a major city. The town which was named after an Arapahoe Indian chief, Chief Niwot, is an unincorporated “village”, that was platted in 1875.

The quaint village is much the same as it was a hundred years ago, though the blacksmith shop and the alfalfa mill have been replaced by specialty boutiques, fine dining establishments and fabulous antique stores. Downtown Niwot has been designated a historical landmark, ensuring that the small town will retain its old fashioned charm far into the future. The business community and local economy are thriving today, as local farms are being transformed into beautiful housing developments for busy professionals working at local high-tech companies such as IBM.

The town offers gourmet markets, pizza parlors, fine dining establishments and cute coffee shops, making culinary choices a delight for all tastes and moods. Many professional services are also located downtown to serve the needs of the local residents.

Along with the many recreational and cultural opportunities available in nearby Boulder, Niwot offers many festivals and events to keep the residents busy. The Lobster Bash brings a taste of Maine to Old Town, while Nostalgia Days incorporates the music and fun with the town’s heritage. This rapidly growing community, situated in the foothills outside of Boulder, offers a small town feel, with the amenities of a large city minutes away.
